Good morning,
First of all, I shall introduce myself. I’m Didier Guillot, chairman Paris & Co agency. I’m elected in the 18th borough, well known for Montmartre.
Paris&Co is the economic development, attractiveness and innovation agency of Paris.
Paris&Co prospects and provides support for foreign direct investments, promotes the international attractiveness of Paris abroad, and fosters the Parisian innovation ecosystem through the incubation of startups, the experiment of new solutions, the organization of events and the cooperation between startups and global players.
Paris&Co organises events to foster communication and cooperation between the different segments of the Parisian economy like les matinées internationals, now named “Good Morning Paris!”.
Paris & Co manages ten incubators in several sectors like green technologies, IT, sport, new medias, video-games. And almost 200 startups are followed by our team in those incubators. The most important incubator in Paris is open in the north of Paris and it’s called the Cargo. It’s dedicated to all creative and cultural industries, ranging from video games to new media. We’ve recently opened a new platform too dedicated to smart food. Both these news platforms are located in the heart of the new innovation arch. Innovation arch is a new project to promote, invest and foster startups, incubators, fablabs, workspaces, experimentation sites in the north, east and south of Paris and from the both sides of the ring road. Innovation arch is a very flexible, efficient and open initiative to foster the innovation and experiment Metropolis. In those 150 sites, together with the metropolitan territories, we will create, innovate, experiment and discover new way and uses of working, sharing spaces, new uses in urban logistics. We are collectively fostering in those sites the creative, sustainable and smart city.
Paris and Co helps and supports the foreign companies to set up in Paris. More than half of foreign companies that choose to invest in Paris are followed by our agency. Anne Hidalgo wishes that 30% of our incubators will open to international startups. In this perspective, we are launching exchange programs between foreign startups and Parisian startups for several months. Paris region is a world leader in innovation economy. New York, Tel Aviv and then this week Montreal are our first partners and we hope sign new agreements with many cities and world incubators.
There are almost 5000 startups in Paris Region, and more than 50 incubators in the city. The innovation ecosystem is fostered by seven competitiveness clusters like Cap digital for ICT sector, medicen for the health sector, Finance innovation, Advancity for smart city, Systematic and Moveo for mobility and others. Paris region gathers a vast pool of talent with 650 000 students and 100 000 researchers.
I’m very proud to welcome here some of the best players in the innovation, research, experimentation and creative sectors. We are not competitors but complementary players to reach the same target : foster and create the most innovative metropolis !
Have a nice session. Good morning innovative and creative Paris.
